Lady, where are you going with that kinda title?
I’ll tell you what. The common thing is in the level of Emotional damage. I could add other explosive sulphurous nouns into that title, like narcissists or even Hitler, but my point is not to point at them. They are just a mean to get to the most important part. Understanding the effect of an emotional damage. And more importantly: what is the cure of it?
One of my favorites experts I discovered in my hypnotherapy training was a very special therapist and pioneer I would consider. His name is Giorgio Nardone. And with him I understood why did I instantly quit smoking in a very smart way. He made me undestand the mechanic brief strategic psychotherapy, or ordalic therapy. And the answer is most shockingly logical. The fact is that I quit smoking, Thanks to saudi, By increasing smoking. More, and more to the point where I could no more live with the smell of it.
What I love about Giorgio Nardone, who is that kind of guy that always strikes my mind. And again he is that kind of profile who uses different sources of arts and science. He obviously is a psychotherapist, but when it comes to his bibliography, you can see that he has been digging onto Chinese medicine, greek philosophy, and many other spiritual literature. In other words, he has been looking for a efficient answer. Obviously he has been interested in hypnosis and NLP material. I guess what really drives him is to be Brief ,Therapeutic through Strategy. 3 words that say it all.
And one of his statement is that to solve a problem, a brain problem, There is no point spending time understanding the why. The point is to understand the system of thinking behind the problem. In the case of fear, like the example of agoraphobia. The mind in that case has found a protective system into avoiding going out. So the cure to it, is not into spending time investigating why not going out but rather focus on the benefit of not going out. So The cure is into the disruption of the chosen defence mechanism.
In the case of smoking, we are facing an addiction problem. Addiction makes you think of it all the time. There is something forbidden behind it. So the strategy is to avoid guilt and thinking about it. Smokers, mainly, generally smoke to get some sense of relaxation. You want to avoid stress, you smoke a cigarette. So if you stress the mind by informing him that this supply of nicotine is gonna be lowered, he is gonna freak out. So we need to lower the vigilance of the mind. When you make it available, he doesn’t fear anymore lacking the puff of heaven. That is not from heaven but a direct line to the inferno world of hypoxia.
Try the same with somebody who has been living in a constant state of hunger. If you put him in an open buffet, he will put food into his pockets and staff his belly, because who knows if tomorrow he will find food again. You need to make him relax with that. Show him everyday an open buffet. At some point, he will feel comfortable with this idea: the mind is gonna be tricked, And there is no more obsession about getting the fix.
Now, in case of cigarette addiction.I personally experienced ending up being strongly disgusted by it. There was also this dentist who shared with me his feeling that he stopped smoking when he felt ready for it. I felt so much mercy coming from him. No judgement, no shaming, but pure compassion. It’s like someone believed in me into getting through it. There was no more need to hide about it. He accepted me as I am. In that, there is sheer power my friends.
Addiction feeds a a wolf inside of us.
My husband sells chocolate for a living. The first year, we got so much chocolate for free, you bet we ate too much of it. Well, I can tell you that after that year, we couldn’t eat anymore of it, though it was my favorite chocolate ever.
When it gets easy, there is no more tension about it. It’s the fear of lack that makes the obsession.
So in the case of anxiety, guess what. It is by facing at the same time, every day, during 30 minutes, this feeling of anxiety. Just answering this question: what would happen if, and then,…till the point where you make this emotional bath so habitual, it doesn’t scare you anymore to face the dragon.
Now we start getting back to the famous guests of the day.
The dragon has this incredible power to shoot with flames. He burns you up and wounds you till a second degree or a third degree. You can die from burning. The skin gets out of her protective layer and we get very vulnerable to the outside bacteria. The dragon’s metaphor is about making us vulnerable to the point of not being protected.
Now, imagine, the reasons behind a dragon’s fury. I found the answer in the last movie Damsel, with millie boby brown. Thanks to it, I could see the analogy with the beauty and the beast, or other famous greek mythology movie as Clash of the titans. I was so far putting my attention to the hero or the victim. But the whole story is about feeding the kraken. The kraken is making everybody busy in those stories.
So what made the kraken, or the dragon so angry. Who pissed him off guys?
Let’s try to put ourselves in his shoes.
Because he keeps asking for human sacrifice. And apparently not any little one. He is asking for an innocent victim. So feeding a cycle of unfair killing. Well, some would say, the boomerang may come harder on you. You put good in the universe, you get good. You do so messy job, you gonna have to answer it. I think that, everybody will agree on that.
This is it, but go deal with the dragon, or a titan who has the ability to make so much disturbance. He may just destroy everything.
And the key was in damsel. The dragon has been wounded. A king human has killed her daughters. So she demanded a sacrifice to get even.
The kraken is wounded. Angry, and he seeks vengeance!
They killed her progeny. She suffers deep grief. It’s a huge wound. I can’t imagine harder than experiencing such grief. And in that case, it’s not by natural death, but by murdering them.
Well, in that case, I can understand the fury. The heart of the kraken has been deeply wounded. And his rage is unconsolable. How do you train a dragon to meditate, pray or find peace?
Exactly! He is a dragon anyways. He is full of fire and anger. It’s like King Kong. He lives in the jungle.
Hello, jungle guys! It’s survival mode everyday. A gorilla doesn’t eat meat. He doesn’t seek blood. He eats bananas. He is a vegetarian. Maybe if you take him away from that inhospitable environment he can become a very talented yogi.
Apparently dragons too eat mainly insects and vegetables.
So we are not talking about vampires or cold blooded animals.
Why would they ask for a blood sacrifice anyways?
Everything is in the wound. At some point, they have so much pain in their heart. It is easier to dwell into a hating mode.
I experienced it. And I know how it feels. When you are so much in pain. You start having a raging hatred toward those who made you feel that way. The thing is, I noticed that the people I hated most were those I loved most. And the funny part is I hated them not because of the actual stab in the back but because they didn’t want to recognise the injury. Those who made me suffer and that I didn’t love that much didn’t cause me to wish a curse upon them. I just needed to get away from them and forget about them.
Hate is the natural answer to emotional pain. You hurt me, and you don’t give a sh***: I will hate you for that.
The more you are in this suffering, the more It becomes difficult to handle. Weather you dissociate from your emotions. You decide not to feel anything anymore. You become a machine. Anyhow, something will happen into your body. There is always a natural consequence.
Now consider, both dragons and king kong have obviously huge capabilities. Weather strength, agility or flying skills. Not to mention the firehose technique. We cannot dismiss their exceptional abilities.
What if, the metaphor about their abilities was in the power of their minds. What if they were the perfect metaphorical image of an exceptional mind. Capable of exceptional thinking, processing, memorising.
What if those exceptional minds, if they were humans were so clever, so brilliant, so creative that they would fascinate us. To the point of making huge movie productions about them.
I was intrigued by the coincidence of both Napoleon, by Ridley Scott, and Oppenheimer, by Christopher Nolan coming out almost simultaneously in the theatres.
Both directors caught my attention. I love their work, and I am obviously not the only one. There is a reason behind it. They are visionaries. They bring something else to the table. Some piece of truth. They help us solve a piece of the mystery, Of the human quest. Artists, art, is what reminds us of our human nature. They are the ring bells to our heart. They always make sure the music is driving our mind. The music of beauty. Because, we are not here for something else but love. Love is the point. History has proved it: humans tend to forget about it.
So why did they both focus on those two profiles? I think the answer is within the dragon and king kong.
I used to hear people praising Napoleon. For his military genius. For his ability to accomplish extraordinary things in no time. But boy, do you have an idea how many men died under his command? It is generally estimated that 600,000 to 1.3 million French perished during the military campaigns between 1792 and 1815, 70 to 75% of which for the wars of the Empire (1805-1815), in other words, between 400,000 and one million.
And he didn’t even have planes or tanks or any submarines. I am not even thinking how many more killed if he had the nuclear bomb?
They had to unite the forces of 4 nations to defeat him in Waterloo. Can you feel the strength of king kong now? Can you imagine that this guy had a so powerful mind that he could be very difficult to submit. It’s like playing chess with a super artificial intelligence.
Yes, maybe we are facing an artificial intelligence mode.
Somebody so clever. So quick to calculate any strategy any tactic, that makes a regular mind in trouble.
That intelligence. We obviously assume it with a profile like Oppenheimer. He was a scientist. A very good one from what I recall.
But still, what motivates a man to use all his brain cells to conceive a nuclear bomb. That he obviously regretted right after.
If you are that much intelligent. Tell me. Couldn’t you calculate in your mind the obvious consequence of inventing such a powerful weapon of destruction?
No, you couldn’t? REALLY?! Didn’t your mum tell you that there is no good playing with fire? If you invent a weapon, what do you expect? What’s the purpose of a weapon? No need to be a genius to understand.
Same for Napoleon. You saved French sovereignty. Ok great! Why on earth, do you want to go kick Russian butts? And why do you need to call yourself emperor? Did you lack affection during your upbringing dude?
It is like they couldn’t feel the pain that their actions could generate. They couldn’t relate to that.
I don’t think they didn’t know what would be the consequences. I think they couldn’t put themselves in the shoos of the families who would have lost their kids because of them.
Like the dragon. I don’t feel your pain. I don’t care. You killed my babies. I am gonna make you suffer till the end of times.
That is coming from a wounded soul.
When you have a deep invisible wound. And nobody cared about you. Nobody ever had showed you mercy or empathy. You are stuck in deep shame, or deep sorrow, But your mind is so powerful, You figured out a way to survive. You figured out a way to feel protected. This protection comes from gaining power over everybody. So nobody can hurt you anymore.
It is the only way you found to feel safe. Because, again, Giorgio Nardone would treat the patient differently.
First of all. There is no monster. There is only tremendous pain. So much pain as if you were missing an arm, or a leg. The monster image is about the behaviour that is consequent to the insecurity, to the defence mechanism.
You need anaesthesia to calm the pain. Some would be calmed with a simple addiction. Alcohol is the most obvious and legal one in a lot of countries. Some other will need more. Some people have been so much wounded in their childhood, their heart is missing. The complete emotional system is tricked. Some call them narcissists. Some find them with Borderline Personality Disorder according to DSM-5. So when you are missing the complete heart, you are completely cut from your feelings. There is no empathy.
At some point Oppenheimer didn’t have the whole machine tricked. As he regretted his act. But till the point where you keep feeding the beast with power. This only source of self esteem. You will not be able to treat the beast. Oppenheimer could realise that when he could see the news about deaths. As if he was blinded before that. Blinded by his thirst of success. Something prevented him from visualising it.
At some point, what helped the beast recover his natural condition, was to let the beast die. Because of love, he chose love over power.
And that is what saved him.
For there is nothing more powerful than love.
I guess what could save the beast is only a rose, a pure loving heart. That didn’t judge hime as a monster for what he committed or what he looked like.
Mercy, pure mercy is enough to cure the beast.
May mercy always drive us all.
Love you all,
Lamia
